Funding Your Home Care
Funding Your Home Care
Depending on your situation, you may be eligible for government assistance in meeting some, or all, of your care costs.
Most of the healthcare services provided by The Leading Care Company are free of charge to our Customers under the NHS as long as you are referred to us by your GP.
Those who need after care support, either as a result of an accident, or because they have been sectioned under the Mental Health Act, are also eligible for government subsidies. People who are receiving healthcare treatment in a nursing or care home will not need to pay for their support.
Social Services Funding
Social care, unlike healthcare, is not free to everyone because Councils only have a limited amount of money and they may choose to pay for only those people who are in most need of help.
When you contact your council about getting a care service it will carry out a care needs assessment. If your needs are assessed as low or moderate, then you may not be entitled to free care. If your needs do match the level set by your council, it will carry out a financial assessment.
If eligible for funding, you will have the choice of either the Council arranging your support or having a Direct Payment. More people are tending to choose a Direct Payment because if the Council arranges your support you may not be able to choose which organisation provides your support. Direct Payment helps you take control of the care and support you need to live life as you choose.
It can be managed directly by yourself or by your family, or by taking a Direct Payment through a care professional such as The Leading Care Company, through an Individual Service Fund.
Direct Payments
This is an amount of money which is paid by the Council to you to fund your support. This means that you are able to influence who provides your support and how the support you want is provided.
If you do not want the responsibility of managing the money, then The Leading Care Company can do so on your behalf by setting up an Individual Service Fund.
You and your family will be able to track the services you receive, the payments we take, and the balance of your allocated amount.
If more support than the Council can pay is needed, or if there is no entitlement to financial support then this will have to be paid for privately and we will provide you with statements on a regular basis.
Whichever option you choose, you can be confident that The Leading Care Company will provide you with care and support tailored to meet your everyday needs. We can also help find additional support services such as a handyman, gardening services and chiropody.
Both of the above options are available to you if you are eligible for funding through your local Council, whether you are currently receiving services or have just been assessed.
Also, there is no need to worry if you are in receipt of benefits, as they won’t be affected as the amount allocated by the Council is not classed as income.
Private Funding
If you are not eligible for funding, it is important that you select a care provider that can address your wants, needs and choices. The Leading Care Company can provide a personalised, outcome focussed, value for money service, which puts you at the centre of your individualised care and support plan.
It is important to possess relevant information to help make the best decision for you.
